Happy New Year!

I doubt we will be facing New York depths of snow here in Suffolk and my lowly scrapper wouldn’t cope with this car, but should we get any bad weather are you clear on your rules? If an employee can’t make it in, do you clearly state the rules on payment, holiday or leave? Do you encourage employees to be safe or allow early leaving? Let’s hope the mild spell continues, but just in case, ensure you have an adverse weather policy in place.

2016 Employment Law Updates

No increase to Statutory Rates.

The government has confirmed that there will be no increase in statutory rates this April in terms of maternity pay, paternity pay, adoption pay, sick pay and shared parental leave pay.

The current weekly rate is £139.58 or weekly pay if lesser and this will remain.

Statutory sick pay is also frozen at £88.45 per week.

Living Wage April 2016

The living wage of £7.20 arrives for all working people 25 and over. The living wage will be compulsory and aims to rise to £9 by 2020. Time to budget ahead, if you pay the minimum wage now!
